Our Worst Fear

"Our worst fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'who am I to be so brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are we not to be?

You are a child of God: Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

My Son Jacob is Going on a Mission to Japan

I have been in a bit of a funk for the past few days. We took our only son to the MTC on Wed. Jacob is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the next two years. He is going to be in Japan and I won't be able to see him until May 2011! I am grateful we spent an amazing week together before he went. He is a dedicated, wise, mature, and spiritual person. I really look up to him and know he will be a great missionary.

He will be at the Mission Training Center until July to learn the Japanese language.

I didn't know it was going to be so hard to send him off. He wanted to go, he planned for it for years, we had 4 months to get him packed, get his passport/Visa etc. but when it was time to say goodbye it was sooo hard. I have been thinking about him like crazy and it has only been 4 days! I know he will be blessed and we are so proud of him for putting his life on hold to serve the Lord.
I am feeling lots of compassion for the soldier's families who send off their loved ones. I can't imagine being a father or mother getting deployed to Iraq for a year. What a heartbreaker! I am very grateful we have volunteers that put their lives on the line to fight for our freedoms!
