Easy Way to Help the Homeless

How many times have you pulled up at an intersection and seen a homeless person with a sign and didn't know what to do? My daughter and her in-laws had a family gathering. Each brought items that a homeless person might enjoy. They created bags to put in their car to pass out when they saw people in need. The bags had a water bottle, 2 granola bars, a pkg of crackers, Cambells Soup to Go or a pkg of tuna and crackers, small cup of applesauce, and a Ramen cup of noodles. She said they calculated it up and it came to about $3.00 a bag.
I thought it was a GREAT idea. Thanks Jade:)

With so little we can do so much.

Whenever I read about the homeless, I always remember Sal, a homeless man who lived in the woods near my neighborhood. He never asked for anything, didn't drink or bother a soul. Several families in the neighborhood fed and clothed him. One family even opened their doors to him so he could shower in their bathroom. Unfortunately, Sal died of a heart attack his 40's a few years ago. I am sorry "I" did not do more for him.

Very inspirational post.

That reminds me of a time my husband found a man sleeping on bench by a car lot that we owned. He talked to him and found out that he knew how to paint cars. Kyle gave him a job painting and he ended up living in trailer on the property as a night watchman. He went by the name of Hippie. I don't remember his real name but he did work for us for 2 years. When he quit he said it was too much pressure and he wanted to go back to his life of living on the streets.

My in-laws ran a cafe when my husband was little. There was a man that they would help ever now and then... gave him free food when they could, that type of thing. I have always wondered what happened to him...
